Most leaders agree it’s their responsibility to ensure a working space that boosts creativity and efficiency of their team. Some progressive leaders go even further and feel responsible to make sure their team also shares a common purpose, values, vision, and processes.

But only a few hyper-effective leaders know that the profound support of their team’s creative culture comes from maintaining the right energy inside the office. Those “crystal leaders” aren’t crazy. They might actually be the most responsible ones.

Setting up a creative powerhouse in your office goes beyond the basics, such as:

  • Open-office layout,
  • A quiet corner (or many) where team members can retreat at critical moments,
  • A standard of room use, i.e. tables set and clean, volume of conversations.

Hyper-performing offices use energy clearing and crystals to manage energy inside of them.

Energy clearing is like pressing a “reset” button on the energy of the entire office space. Regular resets help because people bring different energies into spaces, and those energies might not be aligned with one another. When people clash, negative energies always stick to the space like smudges. Energies inside spaces can be cleansed by:

  • Visualizing a white ray of light to enter the space to clear all stagnant energies (smudges)
  • Classical music in the hours when the workspaces are empty to energize the space.…
  • Feng Shui Cleansings ( a few times a year) to clear the spaces thoroughly
  • Fresh flowers and pots are a source of life and growth. They give a positive feeling of life energy which stimulates creativity.

Crystals and minerals are a gift from (Mother) Earth. With their strong chemical structure, they cleanse the energy in space so you don’t have to constantly worry about it. Each crystal has its special “flavour” of energy it creates in the space. The most useful crystals to keep around in offices are:

  • Amethyst geode ; placed at the entrance to the space to soak in as many negative energies as possible when people come through the door
  • Sodalite; placed in classrooms, brainstorming rooms or conference rooms, it boosts communication and team spirit
  • Clear quartz; supports a clear focus, so it works very well in conference rooms, or on desks of individuals
  • Citrine; a crystal of manifestation, of conscious creation. A Citrine should be on the table of every manager and leader.

Your responsibility as a leader includes optimizing your workspace to enhance your creativity. Whether you do it yourself with energy clearings, or leave the job to crystals, “getting the energy right” is as important as having air conditioning. Working without being in sync with workspace energy might be frustrating and less creative. So next time you think that taking care of workspace energies makes you “a crazy leader”, remember that it’s much crazier to expect superb results when your offices are full of smudges that slow everyone down. After all, Churchill said it best:

We shape our buildings; thereafter they shape us.

— Winston Churchill

How will you shape your team’s creative space?
